Jeff, Carter and Eric...
Sometimes you have the best laid plans and Mother Nature confungles the equation. Such was the case with this MEAT BULL. After a long flubbed stalk on a cow bison, we came over the hill and this MEAT BULL came barreling towards us at full speed! The guys dropped it cleanly.
The only thing I can figure is that it must have been shell-shocked from being whipped earlier in the day by one of several big bulls we'd seen roaming in the area and lost his mind. Go figure.
Then we realized it wasn't the same buffalo we had been tracking. They got a free upgrade and an interesting story to tell their kids and grandkids about.
COW BISON
Besides the hostile meat bull that the guys killed, We dealt with another ranch renegade in this BISON COW. She had her horns broomed down indicating she was a problem buffalo. Everywhere the small accompanying herd went, this crazy rank bitch was far out in the lead…a real trouble maker.
The rancher wanted us to specifically kill this dauntless cow before she wrecked more stuff or hurt somebody. These bison live on big country. This one was killed over 4 miles from where we first found her and the herd she was leading. The guys did a great job getting the job done. Thanks guys for making it clean!
Nate's COW BISON
Nate wanted to hunt archery gear, but the challenge turned out to be enough with his 300 Win Mag. Our mile-long sneak culminated as we ended up "archery close" as he opened fire from about thirty yards! He put three finely placed shots on this COW BISON to put the kibosh on her before it turned into a runaway.
Bison are tough. It is not like the movies, pictures, and social studies books might have you believe when you get out on big country.
