Plan for rain!
I have prairie dog towns scattered out over 100 miles so I can dodge rain better than anybody in the business. That's a big deal. It's another reason I'm willing to send you the names of ALL of my customers from last season (there's over 150!). To put it in real numbers: I lose an average of less than one day of hunting every year due to rain. Every other prairie dog hunting outfit loses between 10-30 days! That doesn't make me perfect, but it does make me the best. Ask the right questions then make fantastic decisions.
Most first time prairie dog hunters never think about what it's going to be like when Mother Nature brings in the rain if they are cornered into hunting only one ranch. Then it's too late! Their trip is ruined. Imagine the difference of shooting into wet grass or mud compared to getting a nice plume of dust every time your bullet strikes. You will kill a lot more dogs if you can see a nice plume of dust with each shot. If YOU are the guy in charge of selecting which hunting guide service to use, you better take rain into consideration or you will have mud on your face.
Jim River Guide Service delivers The Ultimate Guided Experience.
We are the premier prairie dog hunting destination in the world.
"My dad had the best day of shooting ever. That means a lot to me. Believe me, he'll keep coming out here with me as long as he's able. It's a special time for he and I." - Joel, MN
Nobody has personally guided more prairie dog hunters than I have…in the history of the world. I am proud of that. If you are a beginner shooter or an old pro, it makes sense to hunt with me. Book your hunt with somebody that can dodge rain and mud better than everybody else. (You guys who've hunted prairie dogs before understand!). Regardless of your skill level, if you're coachable, you will kill dogs at distances you never thought were possible in short order.
